The Thai Ministry of Public Health has explicitly prohibited the online sale of cannabis flowers, including those containing THC, as part of new regulations introduced in June 2025. These rules classify cannabis flowers as a controlled herb, restricting their sale to licensed dispensaries for medical use with a prescription only.Recreational Use Restrictions: Recreational use of cannabis flower is banned as of June 23, 2025. Only medical use with a valid prescription from a licensed Thai practitioner is permitted. Any THC-containing products exceeding 0.2% THC are considered narcotics and require strict oversight, making online purchases for recreational purposes illegal.
Postal Service Delivery: Using the Thai postal service or any delivery is illegal. The delivery of THC-containing cannabis flower is not allowed. The transportation of cannabis, especially for non-medical purposes, violates regulations, as it risks bypassing the controlled distribution channels mandated by law. Importing or exporting cannabis products, including via mail, is also highly regulated and generally prohibited without specific permits.
Penalties: Violating these regulations can result in significant fines (up to 25,000 Baht, approximately $700 USD), imprisonment (up to one year), or both, especially for non-residents. Authorities have increased enforcement, including border screening to prevent smuggling, which could apply to postal deliveries. Recommendation: If you need THC-containing cannabis for medical purposes, you must obtain a prescription from a licensed Thai practitioner and purchase from a licensed dispensary in person.
